JOB DESCRIPTION

A Warehouse Operator is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the efficient operation of a warehouse. This role involves material handling, equipment operation, and collaboration with the warehouse team to ensure the timely and accurate movement of goods.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically provided Off or on-the-job. NVQs/ in Warehousing and Storage are available at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

TASKS

  • Load and unload goods from delivery vehicles using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks..
  • Move materials within the warehouse to designated storage areas..
  • Pick products based on customer orders or requisitions..
  • Pack items securely for shipment, ensuring accurate labelling and documentation..
  • Organize and store products in designated locations, optimizing space utilization..
  • Restock shelves and maintain a clean and orderly warehouse..
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling tools..
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues..
  • Inspect goods for damages or defects during the handling process..
  • Report any discrepancies to supervisors and collaborate with the quality control team..
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of material movements, including receipts and shipments..
  • Prepare shipping and receiving documentation as required..
  • Communicate effectively with other warehouse staff, supervisors, and delivery personnel..
  • Provide updates on inventory levels, order status, and any issues affecting warehouse operations..
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during material handling activities..
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required..
  • Work efficiently to meet daily and weekly production targets..
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to efficiency initiatives..
