JOB DESCRIPTION

A Manufacturing Operative is an essential role in the production process, responsible for various tasks related to the manufacturing of goods. This role involves operating machinery, assembling products, and collaborating with a team to ensure the efficient and accurate production of goods.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements, though some employers may require GCSEs/S grades. Some employers may set dexterity and aptitude tests for entrants. Normal colour vision may be required for some posts. NVQs/SVQs at Levels 1, 2 and 3 are available in a variety of areas.

TASKS

  • Operate manufacturing machinery and equipment according to established procedures..
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary..
  • Perform assembly tasks, fitting components together to create finished products..
  • Use hand tools, power tools, or other equipment for assembly processes..
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards..
  • Identify and address any defects or discrepancies during the production process..
  • Load raw materials into machines or assembly lines..
  • Unload finished products and transport them to designated areas..
  • Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines for machine operation and general production activities..
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required..
  • Record production data, including quantities produced, machine settings, and any issues encountered..
  • Complete required documentation for compliance and reporting..
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency..
  • Provide feedback to supervisors for continuous improvement..
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily and weekly production targets..
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors..
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace..
  • Ensure tools and materials are properly stored..
  • Stay informed about manufacturing processes and procedures..
