JOB DESCRIPTION
An Assembly Operative is responsible for the efficient and accurate assembly of components and products in a manufacturing or production setting. This role involves working on an assembly line, using hand tools, and following detailed instructions to contribute to the creation of finished goods.
QUALIFICATIONS
There are no formal academic entry requirements, though some employers may require GCSEs/S grades. Some employers may set dexterity and aptitude tests for entrants. Normal colour vision may be required for some posts. NVQs/SVQs at Levels 1, 2 and 3 are available in a variety of areas.
TASKS
- Adhere to health and safety regulations in the workplace..
- Assemble components using hand tools, power tools, or other equipment..
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production targets..
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors..
- Complete required documentation for compliance and reporting..
- Conduct visual inspections of assembled products to ensure they meet quality standards..
- Ensure proper alignment and fit of components..
- Handle and position components accurately for assembly..
- Identify and address any defects or discrepancies during the assembly process..
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency..
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace..
- Manage the flow of materials on the assembly line..
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary..
- Operate machinery and equipment as part of the assembly process..
- Perform assembly tasks according to specified procedures and guidelines..
- Perform basic testing of assembled products to verify functionality..
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and tools..
- Provide feedback to supervisors for continuous improvement..
- Record quantities produced, track assembly progress, and note any issues encountered..
- Report any equipment issues to maintenance personnel..
- Report any issues or malfunctions to supervisors..
- Retrieve and transport components as needed for the assembly process..
- Set up workstations with the necessary tools and materials for assembly tasks..
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required..
