JOB DESCRIPTION

A Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within a designated area, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for occupants. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks to meet established standards of cleanliness.

QUALIFICATIONS

No academic qualifications are required. On-the-job training may be provided. Vocational qualifications in Cleaning and Support Services Skills are available at Levels 1 and 2.

TASKS

  • Clean and sanitize surfaces, including desks, tables, countertops, and other furniture..
  • Dust and polish surfaces to maintain a neat and orderly appearance..
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors as needed..
  • Clean and sanitize carpets and rugs..
  • Polish and wax floors to maintain a clean and polished look..
  • Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors..
  • Refill dispensers with soap, tissue, and other restroom supplies..
  • Empty trash bins and replace liners..
  • Dispose of waste in designated receptacles following established procedures..
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors to ensure a streak-free and clear appearance..
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, appliances, and utensils..
  • Maintain cleanliness in breakroom areas..
  • Dust surfaces, furniture, and fixtures to remove accumulated dust and cobwebs..
  • Respond to spills and accidents promptly to prevent slips and falls..
  • Follow established protocols for handling biohazardous materials if required..
  • Maintain and clean cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and mops..
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to supervisors..
  • Undertake special cleaning projects, such as deep cleaning or seasonal cleaning tasks..
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs observed during cleaning to supervisors..
  • Document completed tasks and report any issues that may require attention..
