A Civil Engineer is a professional who applies scientific and mathematical principles to design, plan, construct, and maintain infrastructure projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements, though GCSEs/S grades are advantageous. Entry is typically through an apprenticeship or traineeship approved by ConstructionSkills leading to an NVQ/SVQ at Level 3.

TASKS

  • Develop plans and designs for various civil engineering projects, considering factors such as budget, timeline, and resources..

  • Analyse the structural integrity of buildings and bridges to ensure they meet safety standards..
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications..
  • Communicate with clients, government officials, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and address concerns..
  • Stay updated on advancements in civil engineering technology, materials, and construction methods..
