Nurture Teacher – Key Stage 2 – Alternative Provision – Walsall
A nurturing alternative provision in Walsall is seeking a committed and resilient Nurture Teacher to teach a small Key Stage 2 class on a long-term supply basis. This role is ideal for a QTS teacher who excels at building positive relationships, creating calm learning environments, and supporting pupils who need structure, consistency, and emotional support to succeed.

As a Nurture Teacher, you will work with pupils who have experienced barriers to mainstream education, many of whom present with SEMH needs, anxiety, or challenging behaviour. Classes are small, allowing you to focus on social development, emotional regulation, and re-engaging pupils with learning. You will be supported by an experienced team who share a child-centred approach.
Job Role:
  • Teaching a small Key Stage 2 nurture class
  • Creating a calm, structured and supportive classroom environment
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement
  • Delivering a broad, accessible curriculum tailored to individual needs
  • Using consistent behaviour strategies and restorative approaches
  • Working closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff
  • Monitoring progress and supporting pupils’ personal and academic development
The Ideal Teacher Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 2 pupils with SEMH needs
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A nurturing, patient and empathetic approach
  • Experience in SEMH, nurture, alternative provision or similar settings 
  • The ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils
